Like air bnb rentals, the rating system gives you a clue about a spot but not the whole picture. Look for safety considerations and owner operator focus.

Sniffspot marketing for private dog park owners should consider engaging in their community as much as possible. Being a NDPA Director at Large would give you lots of marketing opportunities for your private dog park. Giving visitation passes to animal shelters and rehoming groups would get local exposure to your dog park. Checking local parks and noting any amenities provided for visiting dog owners. You might be able to post a sign at a public park suggesting some dog owners might want a private dog park for their needs. (see marketing sign)

Unlike public parks, a private dog park owner is free to develop their park as they see fit. Ran as business it can deduct operating expenses. (check with your CPA tax person)
Use the NDPA's 501c3 non-profit status to raise funds in your city to help all dog parks including yours.

The PET / National Dog Park Association allows dog park operators a non-profit umbrella partnership to raise funds for their park and help pay for operation expenses.

It gives both private and public dog parks a non-profit platform to allow them to develop to sponsorships and /or private funding for all dog parks in their city.

â—¼ - It allows park owners a path to seek private annual park supporters.
â—¼ - It allows park owners a non-profit status for community event booths / fairs ect.
â—¼ - It allows dog parks to be valued as a part of the local animal welfare network.
Community Outreach
Park directors can maximize public awareness about their dog park by teaming up with local animal welfare projects. The National Dog Park Association partnership gives park directors opportunities to create a larger presence within their community.
